Just got a JMJM. The Action is really high. I did a basic Setup. Adjust Relief, Bridge Height & Intonation. Slot

One of the main causes of guitar playability issues is the guitar nut height. Find out how to solve this problem quickly, easily and cheaply. The guitar nut height on my Yamaha Pacifica 112J needed serious attention. The three wound string were fine, but as you can see from the pic below, the nut height increased dramatically for the top three. The ideal height would be just about the same as a fret's height in the same position as the nut. In practice, I've found that there are some musicians whose playing attack is so vigorous that they require the nut to be higher to avoid the open string buzz. It is also important to cut the nut slot in a slight downward angle. If the nut slot is flat, then the string will rattle and buzz when played open. A good place to start is at the factory heights which are 1.5/64″ or.022″ for the Low E, A, D, and G strings, and 1/64″ or.018″ for the B and high E strings. Setting nut height, ou want it so if you are fretting between the second and third frets, the gap above the first fret is very small, basically as small as you can get it. You may have to file down the nut slot to achieve this and this will need special nut files to do properly, and the slots should angle down towards the headstock side.

I called Fender they said, The String height at the Nut & 1st Fret should be .020mm. My Feeler Gauge goes as high as .027mm & the String height is way higher than that. I presume the Frets need Filing. Which I've never done before. Although I have Files In my Set up Tool Kit.
Are there standard String Height Measurements or Specs for Guitars? Are they all the same? Doubt it? Is there a Link here anyone can direct me to about String Height Specs & how to File Nuts?
Thanks,
Lars
