What did the project involve?
Victoria Leeds is a shopping and leisure area in Leeds city centre.It combines the 1990 Victoria Quarter (an upmarket district of interconnected contemporary and restored Victorian shopping arcades) west of Vicar Lane and the 2016 Victoria Gate shopping centre east of Vicar Lane. Phelan Construction have successfully completed the £9m fit-out of the new Victoria Gate Casino in Leeds for London based casino operator, Global Gaming Ventures. The new 50,000 sqft ‘super casino’ is based within the new £150m Victoria Gate development alongside the UK’s largest department store retailer, John Lewis.
Set over three levels, the entertainment and gaming destination is the first and only ‘super casino’ in the north of England and Scotland.

The main challenges with the project were managing the logistics of such a large site whilst based in Leeds city centre as well as working alongside the ongoing works on the adjacent John Lewis site. Phelan Construction delivered the project on time thanks to their expert project team.

The works involved the installation of raised access flooring, extensive M&E and staircases, before commencing the high specification fit-out which predominately consisted of bespoke joinery, complex ceilings and partitions and high-end finishes throughout.
